Tournament Day Overview

Tournament Day brings together the Event Caddy tools organizers use to run the event after registration, scheduling, and setup are largely complete.

Depending on your tournament, you may use Event Caddy Mobile to check in players and make quick day-of updates, Live Scoring to collect scores from the course, and the Live Scoring Leaderboard to follow and manage tournament results.

Important: Event Caddy Mobile and Live Scoring are separate experiences. Event Caddy Mobile supports organizer tournament-day operations such as player check-in, while Live Scoring uses its own Access Code-based player scoring experience.

Preparing for Tournament Day

A smooth tournament day depends on work completed in several Event Caddy areas.

Before the tournament:

Review your player records and make sure important contact information is current.
Complete and review Group Pairings so golfers are in the correct starting assignments.
Review the automatically generated Start List.
If you are using Live Scoring, activate it and complete the readiness items shown on the Live Scoring Dashboard.
Confirm your course and Tee Colour in Live Scoring.
Make sure the Event Schedule reflects the agenda players should see on the Tournament Website.
Prepare any Auction or other tournament-day workflows your event will use.

Tip: When using Live Scoring, complete and review Group Pairings before the automatic Access Code distribution runs 3 days before the tournament whenever possible.

Using Event Caddy Mobile on Tournament Day

Event Caddy Mobile is the browser-based organizer workspace available at play.eventcaddy.com.

Its main tournament-day use is Player Manager, where organizers can:

check players in as they arrive;
undo a check-in;
see a Shotgun starting hole or Timed Start time;
review group members; and
make quick changes to a player's first name, last name, email address, or phone number.

Organizers can also use Event Caddy Mobile for current Event Schedule changes, light Activity Feed use, and access to Auction tools.

Player check-in status is managed in Event Caddy Mobile and does not currently appear as a separate check-in status elsewhere in the Admin Dashboard.

Important: Event Caddy Mobile does not replace Player Registration or Scheduling. Full player-record management remains under Player Registration, while starting assignments remain under Group Pairings.

Running Live Scoring

Live Scoring is the Tournament Day scoring experience for Event Caddy PRO and ELITE tournaments.

When Live Scoring is activated:

Event Caddy generates Live Scoring Access Codes for the tournament's starting assignments;
the Live Scoring Dashboard shows what still needs to be prepared;
a Live Scoring button is added to the Tournament Website; and
eligible players can receive their scoring access automatically 3 days before the tournament.

Players do not log in to Event Caddy Mobile to score. They use a Live Scoring Access Code or a personalized link that opens their scoring experience.

The Access Code belongs to the starting assignment, not to the group currently occupying it. If Group Pairings change after access information has been distributed, review the affected Access Codes and resend updated information where necessary.

Entering Scores as a Player

Current Live Scoring records one score per hole for the team.

Players can:

open Live Scoring from their personalized link or the Tournament Website;
enter their Live Scoring Access Code when needed;
review or choose their Live Scoring Team Name during first-time setup;
enter and correct hole-by-hole scores;
continue scoring if their connection drops; and
follow the tournament from the Leaderboard tab.

Managing Tournament Results

Live Scoring includes separate player and organizer Leaderboard experiences.

Players use the Leaderboard tab within Live Scoring to follow current standings and review team scorecards.

Organizers use Live Scoring > Leaderboard in the Admin Dashboard to:

review tournament results;
search for groups or players;
correct team scores;
correct Live Scoring Team Names; and
export scoring data to CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do players need Event Caddy Mobile to use Live Scoring?

No. The current Live Scoring experience is separate from Event Caddy Mobile. Players use a Live Scoring Access Code or personalized scoring link.

Where do I check players in on tournament day?

Use Player Manager in Event Caddy Mobile. Organizers can check a player in or undo the check-in from there.

Where do I change a player's starting hole or start time?

Starting assignments are managed through Group Pairings, not Event Caddy Mobile or Live Scoring.
Event Caddy Mobile can display the current starting hole or start time for the organizer.

Does Live Scoring require Player Registration to be closed?

No. Player Registration does not need to be closed for Live Scoring.
The players who need automatic scoring access should be correctly assigned through Group Pairings with usable contact information before the 3 days distribution.

Does activating Live Scoring add anything to my Tournament Website?

Yes. When Live Scoring is enabled, Event Caddy automatically adds a Live Scoring button to the Tournament Website.
Players who use that button need their Live Scoring Access Code.

Can I change the Event Schedule from my phone?

Yes. Organizers can make Event Schedule changes through Event Caddy Mobile.
The Event Schedule itself remains owned by Scheduling, and players use the Tournament Website to view the current public Schedule.

Where should I manage Auction activity?

Auction setup and management remain under the Auctions domain.
Event Caddy Mobile can provide organizer access to Auctions, and bidders can still access Auction features through the mobile experience, but the recommended bidder route is the Auction access provided through the Tournament Website.
