Tournament Cloning Deep Dive

We take a detailed look at everything you can clone from a past tournament

 

This article assumes you've already read through our cloning basics article and are now looking for more detailed information on what can be cloned from a past tournament.

ADMINISTRATIVE OPTIONS

The following items from My Event -> Event Website & Settings -> Event Settings:

  • Max Players

  • Course Holes

  • Groups/Hole

  • Golfers Per Group

  • Event Currency

  • Fee (if applicable)

  • Fee Rate (if applicable)

  • Schedule Format

  • Fundraising Goal


SETTING OPTIONS




Event Caddy’s tournament cloning feature allows you to quickly recreate a new event using the setup from a previous tournament. This saves time and ensures consistency across years. You can selectively clone administrative options, registration setups, website content, and contacts.

Note: Payment methods and sponsors currently need to be reactivated manually.

Administrative Options

Cloning these options duplicates your previous settings from My Event → Event Website & Settings → Event Settings:

  • Max Players

  • Course Holes

  • Groups per Hole

  • Golfers Per Group

  • Event Currency

  • Fee and Fee Rate (if applicable)

  • Schedule Format

  • Fundraising Goal


Setting Options

You can also clone:

  • Store: Categories, Products, Product Options, Email Templates

    Requires at least one active payment method after cloning to enable online purchases.

  • Registration: Packages and Questions under Player Management → Registration Options

  • Club Location: My Event → Event Setup & Settings → Event Location

  • Schedule: My Event → Event Setup & Settings → Event Schedule

  • Email Contacts: Clones all contacts from Communication Tools → Emails including any contact categories.


Event Website Options

Clone your previous event website elements:

  • Banner: Event Website → Website Editor → Logo Editor

  • Logo: Event Website → Website Editor → Logo Editor

  • Homepage: Event Website → Website Editor → Home Page

  • Additional Pages: Event Website → Website Editor → Extra Pages

  • Photo Gallery: Event Website → Website Editor → Photo Gallery

  • Downloadable Files: Event Website → Website Editor → Downloadable Files

  • Custom Names: Event Website → Website Editor → Custom Names

Note: The Sponsors section cannot be cloned yet, but may be available in the future.

Important Notes

  • Online Store Activation: You must enable at least one payment method (Cash, Check, Stripe, PayPal) after cloning.

  • Pro Plan Required: Cloned store items remain inactive until the tournament is upgraded to Pro.

  • Payment Methods: Must be reactivated manually in the cloned tournament.

Best Practices

  1. Clone your tournament immediately after your event ends to streamline next year’s setup.

  2. Double-check payment methods before sharing the registration link.

  3. Review and update registration packages, emails, and schedules as needed.

 


Additional Information (Q&A)

  • Can I clone the 'Sponsors' section along with the sponsor logos?
    As often the sponsors change year over year, currently the Sponsors section cannot be cloned, but that will be an available option in the future.
